About

Where do I start, my flat mate and best friend Glen Sloss made me this blog site as a Christmas present, I’ve been a bit slow in starting this blog. So the first couple of posts might be a bit out of date but I will try and keep on top of everything from here on in.

I guess I should start at the beginning. I’m training to be a BASI qualified alpine ski instructor. I decided to undertake this course because having just graduated from Glasgow University with a degree in civil engineering I decided to take some time off from studying. I asked around my friends and family for ideas and my other flat mate Callum Anderson suggested becoming a ski instructor, I jumped at the chance as I have been skiing since an early age and it’s always something I have enjoyed. I researched all the different ways of qualifying, and after looking at lots of different GAP courses, I decided that BASI was the best option. The next question was where to do my course. My first thought was France. This would have been good as once you have completed the course you can teach almost anywhere, but with the French being French you have to complete a speed test and as I have no race training I didn’t think that was for me, plus my French isn’t that good. So the next option was America. I had the choice of Vail, Colorado or Whistler, Canada. I’ve skied in the US before and enjoyed it but I wanted to try somewhere new so therefore I chose Whistler in Canada. All the rest of my Story about becoming a ski instructor will be in my Blog pages.
